Tom’s Daily Coronacature Challenge

With the April pandemic in full swing and sheltering at home the thing to do, I participated in both April Caricature Challenges. This one was started by famed MAD Magazine caricature cartoonist, Tom Richmond on Facebook. I participated in many of these throughout April, sometimes switching between this challenge and the April Fools challenge on the Caricature Resolution 2020 Facebook page. Sometimes, both challenges featured the same person, making it easier to participate in both. Below is a collage of the April “Coronacatures” I drew for the challenge:

Top Row: “Batman” (I chose the kid playing Bruce Wayne on “Gotham”); old Whoopi Goldberg I already did before; Idris Elba; Eugene Levy from Schitt’s Creek role. Second Row: Old Rhianna caricature I already did before; Bob Dylan from cartoon I did earlier; Ana DeAramis; Bruce Lee. Third Row: Willam H. Macy from “Shameless” role; Kurt Russell; Billie Eilish; The Blues Brothers. Bottom Row: Late MAD Magazine caricature artist Mort Drucker; Katey Sagal in Futurama “Leela” role; Octavia Spencer sketch; Titus Welliver.

Tom decided to continue the caricature prompts to 101. Then to just continue them nonstop. Then, he changed the name of the group to just “The Daily Coronacature” and stepped back from picking the daily subjects and handed that role off to others.

I participated in some, and those are shown above, minus the comedian caricatures that I put in the April Fools collage, so as not to duplicate any. I stopped the collage above with the last April subject and participated sporadically on the rest, but will have to do separate posts for them later.
