For the umpteenth year in a row, I have been commissioned by the local alt-weekly paper in Asheville, The Mountain Xpress, to draw the cover to their humor issue, as well as provide six comic strips that take off on famous comics from the funnies in newspapers, but give them a local spin with new characters and topics that are local, and not by using the copyrighted characters that actually appear in them.
Here is my art for the comped version with just placeholder text, and as it was published, plus the inside pages. (One cartoon would not be run, so this shows the original page as it was supposed to be, and the page with a replacement “Jumble” puzzle parody put in its’ place instead.)
