For the eighth (?) year in a row, the Asheville Alt-Weekly paper: The Mountain Xpress, has published it’s January “Humor Issue” and I have again been tasked to create the cover, as well as some inside cartoons (along with my usual, weekly local cartoon in the opinion section). Here is the new cover, and a few horror movie posters with local themes that I drew for them. This year, we did away with the two page “Sunday Funnies” concept of having local comic strips done in the style of famous newspaper comic strips of old because it seems to be clear that no one not of elderly status even knows what those old comic strips are, or even what newspapers were, to enjoy the parodies).
