Day 5 of Caricature Resolution 2018 calls for actor/comedian:
In case you were wondering, there is a theme to these caricature choices: they are all dead celebrities.
This time, the late, great Robin Williams, who annoyed me as a standup/talk show guest, but who I adored as an actor. This time, I went with a more exaggerated caricature form than I usually am able to pull off (I always start out exaggerating to comic effect, but then keep changing the proportions unconsciously, out of habit, and end up with not much distorted by the time I’m done). I think that’s due to Mr. Williams’ very strong features. Keeping an otherwise realistic style gave it a kind of surrealist look I think. Mixing the Mork from Ork suspenders with the Aladdin Genie button covered two of his big roles and hopefully the sort of Magritte look paid a more subtle tribute to his Toys and What Dreams May Come roles.
